I want to keep it online in some capacity so that probably just means moving to a super cheap host that I can lock in a price for 3 years at just a couple of dollars a month.

The price of our current host is getting outrageous. They recently removed the plan that we've been using that was about $10 a month. Now the plan we're on cost $30 a month if paid by the year. There is a significant discount if we renew for 3 years that brings the price down to $18 a month. 

The other option is to switch to a new host that will get us back under the $10 range. But moving hosts involves the possibility of losing our years worth of OCN history if the forum database gets corrupted or something else happens.

Thoughts?

Let me look into it. I think it's just the liscense to keep receiving updates, so it's not that important. Disappointing that we're still getting spam, this software is usually pretty good about keeping it out.

Several years back I think we talked about getting away from the pirate theme, I'm ceartinly open to discussion on any ideas. We also own the old overclockers-network.com domain but I'm not sure that really fits the main focus of this community either. Really interested to hear what yall want to do. 

Guess it would help if I assign ya'll permissions to view the forums...

I would love to get this place going again. Either on the continued focus of hardware, overclocking and distributed computer or shift the focus one whatever our hobbies reflect. 

For the past few years I've been managing gaming communities so that is my specialty at the moment. I know that doesn't fit eveyones fancy but perhaps it could be a part. 

Looking for ideas, let me know!

this seems to be fixed now, but there is also a problem of it not reloading the page when you click a link. that's..odd...

I have been in discussions with icy dock on some ideas for high-density m.2 storage

configurations. They may be releasing a 12x m.2 drive in a 5.25" bay setup soon.

 

I would probably revert this setup to a couple of those and add in four more docks for expansion down the road :D

So what are you using this all for Chupo?

If I can scrape up $275 I'll buy invasion power board just so I don't have to fool with VB3 anymore :D

A couple of us still hang around. I toss some money at a webhost every few years and it stays online. There are the occasional holes that need patching but it mostly works!

Poor old VB3 doesn't like the newer version of PhP, Figured out how to keep this directly on php5 so hopefully that wont happen again. Hope everyone is well!
