Hi Squeeks.

My name is Jimmy Reem and I live next door to Goodspeeds COWS. Heh (P.U.:-). It's pronounced "POO". Sorry Goody, I couldn't help myself. :D I just got a look at those computer parts you sent to Goodspeed and I wanted to say thank you. I have been out of the country for quite a few years so I haven't played with my own personal computers since my pentium pro days. I know I might be dating myself here but so what, I've earned it. Over the years I mostly got to play with work computers but other than the occasional game of Solitare it was hands off. I look forward to tinkering with my own computer and hopefully get the internet set up soon too. For now Goodspeed was kind enough to run a 457 and a half foot cable (!) to my house so I could leech off of him. He said you all were a good bunch of charachters and I would feel right at home here. I really appreciate the kind gesture and look forward to working with your team in Boinc. Thank you again. Jimmy Reem-

Yo Jimster Welcome aboard! :dancepirate3:

So are we gonna have to guess which theatre

you were in? 457 feet is over the limit for a CAT 5

make sure it works, cuz the interwebbies is what

its all about. We'll get cha up to Speed.

I wanna recommend a PC build for yas

the one i'd build today, if I wasn't holdin' out

for the i7. And remember

Post early post often.

Don't mind the randum stuffs

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. It's much appreciated. Goodspeed and I built my first ever computer last week and I have to say I am mighty impressed. I have an Athlon XP processor running at 2293 megahurtsmesogood 2 gigabytes of DDR memory which is more than my first hard drive was (540). It has an ATI Radeon 9600XT video card with an Antech 550 watt power supply. The best part of it is the R.A.I.D. array. I have two 36 gigabitemesohard Raptors in raid0 so she's real fast and a DvD burner. The best part about this is it's all from you guys. Once again I can't thank you all enough.:beerchug:

I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that the fastest bestest most glamorous PC I have ever owned is a conglomeration of throw away pieces from you guys. I almost feel like a dumpster diver here. :D

Winky: I've never had the opportunity of serving for the finest military force in the world however I don't think I missed out on anything to juicy as I worked with Goody for over 6 years. Seemed like a hundred and six. :jumping:(again, sorry Goody:-)

Godcopp: Thanks for the warm welcome. And like some other people I know, (don't worry Goody I won't mention your name) You just have to read beyond what Winky is saying to find the true nature of what he MEANS.:rasta:

1fast6: You make me feel right at home. I don't know what it is but I loves me a cold frosty every now and again.:beerchug::alc:

P.S.

That 457 foot network cable that Goody and I ran from his house, through the cow pie infested mine field, to my house worked when it wanted. Which is to say that I think it was a city union worker on lunch break. :poke: We have an idea to cut it in half and put a switch in the middle. Hopefully that will send the power more bigger better faster. Wish us luck.:)

By the way, I love these little guys you all have here at your site. :headbang:

Heh, heh. Well now that you ask...... I have this idea you see. It involves a motorcycle battery and a small Photovoltaic panel up in this hickory tree. I don't like heights and Goody said "Hell no!". So I'm going to ask this one neighbor kid if he will do it for twenty bucks. Besides, if he falls and breaks a leg it's not MY problem. :D

Hey JR, I just broke down my old HTPC, I'll send you almost a complete computer minus case, ps and cd drive if you want another to use and crunch for the team. It's an AMD64 3000 with 512MB RAM, All in Wonder 9600, 18GB HD with a HSF. Let me know and I'll send it with GS's power supplies.

Now you're just like a drug dealer. First you give the shit away. Pretty soon you'll have him buying parts a little at a time, then all of the sudden he will have quad cores galore. Where will the madness end? You're such a bad influence. :D Naughty boy.

Ill pass along the info, but I'm sure he would be very happy to have another rig. He gots kids too.:rasta:

Snap!! Now I can give him my OTHER 19" CRT. WOOT! Muahahahaha.....

Hey man, that would be so cool. I have to say, Goody did most (all:bowdown:) of the work in building this computer I have now and it runs like a dream. He has me hooked on this Gordon Freeman character and I just can't seem to stop. :D

I would actually like to put one together myself now. If you could tell me what parts I would need to finish it that would be great as I could get those now and have it all ready for when it gets here. Other than running this Rosetta program on all of the computers I ever will own forever and ever, what else could I do to help out here? You guys have been more than hospitable and I would like to give back in some way. Thanks a lot. Again.

Let's see. You need an ATX case, could be desktop or tower, doesn't matter. A power supply, not outrageous, anything over 300 watts would do it. A cd-rom or dvd-rom drive a couple of atx cables and TADA!! That's it. You could go cheap and get all that for under $50. Or you could steal it all from GS, he prolly has lots of it lying around. I think it still has the OS installed, so your good there. After that it's all tweaking.
